So Who are We at SnappTraffic Consulting?

Hi, my name is Michael Snapp, I'm the owner of Snapptraffic Consulting. Snapptraffic Consulting is a group of 3 consultants who are Salesforce.com experts. You can take a look at our services pages to see all the different ways we can help you with Salesforce.com, so  I'll take moment on this page to tell you a little bit more about us as a company and our history with Salesforce.com.

As you can probably tell by the name, I started Snapptraffic Consulting.  My experience with Salesforce.com started in 2003 I worked in management for a training company that had a medium size sales team. We were in desperate need of some kind of CRM (Customer Relationship Management) tool that would help the management keep an eye on the performance of the sales team, allow them to determine the effectiveness of their marketing, and to help the sales associates do their job more effectively. We knew that we needed a CRM system of somekind. We tried several different CRM systems, like GoldMine, ACT, Outlook, etc - but the best fit for us and the best value was Salesforce.com.

Since I was the one who suggested Salesforce.com, I was given the task of setting it up. This turned out to be a bigger project than I had expected. My major in college was computer science, so I knew about computers, but as I learned about CRM , I realized that matching a software tool to a diverse group of sales professionals was about a lot more than understanding computers.

I made a lot of mistakes - and the project took a lot longer than I expected. It also was amazingly difficult to get our sales reps to use the system. We ended up having to bring in a consultant that could help us to understand the human side of the CRM equation. I learned a lot from that consultant about driving adoption and ultimately learned how to make our Salesforce.com system a success.

Salesforce.com utterly transformed our sales efforts. It was actually amazing. From a disjointed effort based on fear and tracked on legal pads, we transformed our sales team into an organized selling machine. Salesforce.com was just a tool, but what we learned about how to sell, how to track each possible customer, how to engage each customer properly, and how to measure our results was extremely powerful.

Our sales reps now knew exactly how well they were doing - and how well the other sales reps were doing. A friendly competition grew between them and they became very effective. I remember looking back at the progress we made over that year and just being amazed at how much we were able to integrate salesforce.com into all that we were doing and how much better the entire company functioned as a result. Every part of the company - marketing, sales, delivery, finance, management - was better because the information was better.

I learned a lot over those years about CRM and about Salesforce.com. I eventually left that company and moved on to other opportunities, but the lessons I learned while there turned out to be lessons that many other companies needed help with as well. It wasn't long before I started having requests made of me to help others with their salesforce.com implementation. It happened enough that I made a business out of it.

Brian Conlon

After a year or so of doing this consulting on my own, I realized that I couldn't do it alone. My friend Brian asked about my business one day. I have known since I met Brian a few years ago that he was a problem solving genius. As I was telling him about Salesforce.com and what I do for my clients, I started to realize that he would be a good fit and could help me considerably.  I asked if he would like to join me. He quickly learned the basics of Salesforce.com and before long was solving problems for clients that I had previously turned down, especially in the area of custom coding like s-controls and custom development work. Now he is an expert in all of the areas of Salesforce.com that require the ability to write code. He write Visualforce pages, triggers, s-controls, and develops Salesforce Sites. He has truly helped to transform the business.

Mike Smartt

Eventually, I realized that I needed more help. Between Brian and I, we were working with clients all day and staying up late each night to get everything done. I had been considering looking for additional help, but hadn't had the time to begin the process. Then one day Mike Smartt called me out the blue. He was a certified Salesforce Administrator (actually one of the first certified by Salesforce!) and looking for some Salesforce customization projects that he could do from home. He came to us well qualified as a former Senior VP of Sales managing 70 reps. He also had experience as a CFO. What I loved about his experience were the  various angles of the typical business model with which he had first hand knowledge. He had seen business in action and Salesforce.com in action. He was a great fit for us, and the time flexibility and working from home were a good fit for him. He started late 2008 and quickly put his extensive Salesforce experience and knowledge to work for us and has been a wonderful edition to the team.
